Food & Drug Safety Publicity Week Held in Nursing Home

Shanghai has built a number of food and drug safety popularization stations in community in recent years, which has completed the last task of supervision on food and drug safety and serving the residents. At the food safety publicity week held in Hongkou, the Food and Drug Safety Popularization Station of Residence Lan has been formally established and put into use, which is the first of its kind in Shanghai.

At the newly-established Station the elderly learn the knowledge of food and drug safety with the company of the nursing staff, and put various food models to the right position of refrigerator according to the knowledge. Chen Wei, Deputy Director of the District Marketing Supervision Bureau, says that the Bureau will be based on the needs of the elderly to renew the content of science popularization and strengthen the training of related personnel in the nursing home.

Pioneered by the Bureau, the Station adopts the model of science popularization station plus fast inspection station. The science popularization station can provide the consultation and the science popularization services for the elderly living in nursing homes, while the fast inspection station can offer fast inspection of sample ingredients and tableware in the cafeteria of nursing homes according to the needs of the elderly and their families, so that the elderly and their families can be more assured of food safety. As for the pension institutions that do not have the function of fast inspection of food and drugs, the Bureau will use the Mingchuliangzao Platform and deploy the vehicles for quick inspections on food and drug to strengthen the regulation on food and drug safety in an all-round way.
