City's First Existing Residential Area Photovoltaic Pilot Project Successfully Implemented
Recently, the Existing Residential Area Photovoltaic Pilot Project at the Chi San Community in Quyang Road Sub-district has been successfully implemented and connected to the grid. The first phase of the project has an installed capacity of about 23.7 kilowatts. The generated green electricity is primarily used for the community public area lighting project.
This project, the first in the city to add photovoltaic power generation to existing residential buildings, provides a vibrant application scenario and a practical implementation plan for exploring new energy construction in communities and promoting a green, low-carbon lifestyle.
To further learn from and implement the important reply from General Secretary Xi Jinping, and to practice a low-carbon lifestyle, Quyang Road Sub-district has been actively promoting rooftop photovoltaic installations in the district under the guidance of the District Development and Reform Commission. This initiative is part of the broader effort to promote energy conservation, carbon reduction, and green development in the area.
In the process of promoting low-carbon and green energy concepts, the representatives of the Chi San Community actively responded and expressed their desire to introduce green energy concepts and photovoltaic practices into the community.
The District Development and Reform Commission, Quyang Road Sub-district, Chi San Community Committee, Property Management Company, and others quickly collaborated with Shanghai Shen Neng Investment Development Co., Ltd. They explored the installation of photovoltaics on residential buildings at 620, 640, and 650 Quyang Road, providing the community with zero-carbon, clean green electricity.
At the start of the project, considering residents' unfamiliarity with photovoltaic power generation, various parties including the local party branch, community committee, and property management company played a crucial role. They conducted several meetings with building leaders, sought public opinions face-to-face, and gathered written feedback, leading to high approval rates for the installation on the three buildings.
During the installation, active communication between relevant departments and units was maintained, with strong support from the Jiulong Road Business Station of the State Grid Shanghai Municipal Power Company. After repeated trials and demonstrations, the project overcame various procedural, technical, safety, and construction challenges.
Following a series of processes such as rooftop load testing, waterproofing, assembly, installation of photovoltaic panels, reinforcement, and wiring, the first phase of the project was successfully connected to the grid at the end of October.
With the flip of a switch, the photovoltaic meters started running, and community street and corridor lights switched to a borrowed light for power generation mode.
The successful implementation and inspection of the first phase of the Chi San Community's photovoltaic pilot project marks a new achievement for the Hongkou District in exploring photovoltaic applications, actively using renewable clean energy, optimizing energy use, and promoting green, low-carbon, high-quality community development.
The second phase of the Chi San Community's residential building photovoltaic project is currently progressing in an orderly manner. The Chi San Community also plans to accelerate the photovoltaic installation on all residential buildings in the area, illuminating buildings and beautifying the environment. This initiative aims to promote high-quality development in the residential area and respond to residents' aspirations for a better life."
