Hongkou’s 18 medical workers arrived at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport with Shanghai’s second aiding-Hubei medical team at 15:30 on March 22. They have fought against COVID-19 at the front line for 55 days and now return home safely.
Wu Xinbao, Chief of the CPC District Committee, wrote to welcome medical workers back home. Hu Guangjie, Deputy Chief of the CPC District Committee and District Governor, welcomed them home at the Airport on behalf of the CPC District Committee, the District Government and the people of Hongkou.
15 medical workers of Shanghai Fourth People's Hospital resolutely embarked on the journey of aiding Hubei on the 4th day of the first lunar month, and received and cured 144 patients in the F17 ward of Wuhan Third Hospital in 55 days, 34 of which were severe, 12 were critically ill, and 91 were discharged from hospital after recovery. They are not infected and outstandingly complete the task.
Wuhan Third Hospital bid farewell to the medical workers before backing home, each of whom received an anti-COVID-19 memorial certificate. According to Zhang Yihui, the head of the F17 ward and Director of the Respiratory Department of Shanghai Fourth People’s Hospital, the biggest accomplishment is to witness the power of unity and that a friend in need is a friend indeed. Besides, Zhang wanted to say thank you to the people of Wuhan. "We have been moved because Wuhan residents would say thank you to us whether we go to the supermarket or walk on the road during the 55 days," said Zhang.
15 of 18 medical workers come from Shanghai Fourth People's Hospital, 2 from Shanghai TCM-Integrated Hospital, and 1 from Hongkou Jiangwan Hospital.
By now, there are still 8 of 26 medical workers at the front line. We are looking forward to their safe return as soon as possible.
