North Sichuan Community Holds Laba Activity to Welcome Lunar New Year

“New Year comes following Laba (the 8th day of the 12th lunar month) Festival.” On January 11, the Shanyi Neighborhood Committee and Shan’er Neighborhood Committee of North Sichuan Sub-district organized the Laba Festival activity to increase the lunar New Year atmosphere in the community.

In the Activity Room of Shansan Neighborhood Committee, leaders of the Neighborhood Committee and volunteers of its co-construction units Home of Longevity Old People’s Home, Gugujixiangshan Seafood City and Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank Liyang Road Branch have made 5 buckets of Laba porridge of different flavors.

Old neighbors have gathered to talk about their daily life and changes in the community while enjoying the porridge, which has helped to enhance love among neighbors.

At the entrance of the lane, the volunteers have delivered Laba porridge to deliverymen and sanitation workers passing by, enabling them to feel some warmth in the cold winter.

For senior people living alone or having difficulty in moving, staffs of Shanyi Neighborhood Committee have delivered the “warmth” of the community. Bowls of Laba porridge to their home and the care and love have also warmed the heart of these senior people.
