“Love Water Tank” Delivers Warmth to Outdoor Workers

Have you remembered the “Love Refrigerator” at Dongbaoxing Road? In the scorching summer, the “Love Refrigerator” has brought some cool to the North Sichuan Community. Lately, a warm-hearted merchant at 235 Dongbaoxing Road has set up a “Love Water Tank” to deliver a piece of warmth in the freezing winter to sanitation workers, deliverymen and other front line workers.

Gong Xiufang is a sanitation worker at Dongbaoxing Road. Despite the several hours working in the freezing weather everyday, she feels warm in her heart. “Previously, we would bring a cup and get some water in the shop. Now, the shop owner says we can take water anytime we want. That’s great.” Her words have stricken a chord among passers-by: Aunt Zhang praises that this tank is a timely help. As she was getting on in years, she would always bring a cup whenever going out but could hardly find a place to get warm water when she drank it out. “In the old times, I would ask a senior shop assistant for some hot water. But it’s really difficult to find a place to get hot water now. In such freezing cold days, it would be good to have a glass of hot water to warm hands up.”

It is learnt that to find a water tank with high heat retaining property, the merchant has changed the hardware for three times. And the orange umbrella beside the tank also has a story: after learning its good deeds, the North Sichuan Sub-district awarded it a large and conspicuous umbrella to provide the tank and citizens in need with a shelter against wind and rain. Every little deed would constitute an ocean of love. If every one of us would respect all workers by dropping less litter and expressing more thanks, our city would be better and filled with more warmth.
