Large Volunteer Service Activity Held in Hongkou

In order to further boost the prosper growth of the regional volunteer service cause, cluster the volunteer forces, and show the volunteers’ look, the large volunteer service activity of Hongkou District on the Learn-from-Lei-Feng Day, sponsored by the District Civilization Committee, co-organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC District Committee and the District Civilization Office and undertaken by the District Volunteers’ Association, the District Volunteers’ Service Center and the District Party Building Service Center, was held on the square at the gate of Luxun Park on March 5.

More than 40 volunteer service teams from all walks of life provided 84 items of services, involving consultation on medical treatment, legal assistance, finance and wealth management, physiological consultation and home appliances’ maintenance.

Synchronized with publicizing the “Shanghai Management Rules on Household Waste”, A batch of eco-protection volunteers introduced categorization of household waste by showing the poster stands, giving out folding pages, and organizing interactive games. After correctly completing the simulated categorization game, citizens could win little gifts such as eco-friendly bags.

Before and after the Learn-from-Lei-Feng Day, all the departments, sub-districts and volunteer service bases in Hongkou, according to their features and masses needs, carried out all kinds of volunteer service activities. In the process of building the national civilized district, the district volunteer service center gave full play to its role as a comprehensive platform, attracted more and more organizations non-affiliated to Hongkou District, such as Shanghai No. 1 Hospital, China Construction Bank and China Life Insurance to join in the volunteer service team, expanded the coverage of the volunteer service and enriched the cultural connotation of the volunteer service.
