Hongkou District Party Secretary Li Qian and District Director Lu Ming led a delegation to the Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics (SITP) for a visit and discussion with SITP Director Ding Lei and Party Secretary and academician Sun Shengli on March 11.
Established in 1958, SITP is a renowned national research institution specializing in infrared optoelectronics. It serves as a key contributor to national strategic needs, achieving numerous technological innovations representing China’s highest scientific standards.
The institute operates two national key laboratories, one national-level technological innovation base, four provincial-level innovation platforms, and 13 research units. It has played a significant role in major national science and technology projects, civil aerospace missions, and the country’s economic development.
During the visit, Li emphasized the importance of aligning technological innovation with regional development. He noted that Hongkou is actively implementing an innovation-driven growth strategy to enhance its technological capabilities.
With SITP’s expertise in optoelectronic technology and Hongkou’s drive for industrial advancement, both sides have extensive opportunities for collaboration.
He encouraged SITP to deepen cooperation with Hongkou in areas such as high-end optical and intelligent detection technology, scientific research, technology commercialization, and industrial cluster development.
Hongkou District pledged to provide comprehensive support, ensuring a favorable environment for research activities and the successful application of SITP’s innovations within the region.
Ding Lei expressed gratitude for Hongkou District’s ongoing support and provided an overview of SITP’s recent research achievements and future development plans.
He reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to advancing cutting-edge technologies that align with national priorities and ensuring the nation’s security and technological leadership.
Ding also highlighted SITP’s willingness to strengthen its collaboration with Hongkou by accelerating the transformation of research outcomes and contributing to the development of a regional high-tech innovation hub.
He proposed establishing a long-term cooperation mechanism to enhance the integration of scientific research, industry, and practical applications.
By prioritizing the commercialization of technological breakthroughs in Hongkou, SITP aims to jointly promote regional scientific and economic progress.
