The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) saw the signing of procurement contracts at the CIIE North Bund Pavilion on November 6, alongside the launch of Hongkou District's Global Traders Plan. Several high-profile companies signed orders and agreements during the event.
The 7th CIIE's Shanghai Trading Group Hongkou Division achieved a record-high trade volume this year, with exhibitors from countries and regions including Japan, South Korea, Germany, and Nepal.
The products on display spanned multiple sectors, including daily chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverages.
A key highlight of the event was the launch of the Global Traders Three-Year Action Plan (2024-2026) for Hongkou District.
The plan, the first of its kind focused on the trade industry, aims to leverage Hongkou's economic strengths to systematically promote the aggregation of global traders and enhance the district's trade capabilities.
The plan sets ambitious quantitative targets for the next three years: a 15 percent increase in foreign trade imports and exports from 2024 to 2026, and the number of recognized trade headquarters will rise from 18 to over 30.
Specific targets for innovation in trade models and improvements in the business environment have been outlined, with a focus on actionable projects and milestone achievements.
Looking ahead, the Hongkou government aims to promote trade innovation, transformation, and quality improvement, enhancing cooperation and coordination among stakeholders.
By optimizing services and fostering high-level openness, Hongkou hopes to boost its role as a global resource allocation hub and a gateway for international trade.
The plan is designed to catalyze Hongkou’s high-quality trade growth and elevate its position as a key player in Shanghai’s global trade ecosystem.
The event also showcased some major deals, including a 68.75 percent increase in the procurement order for SynthAsia compared to last year, marking the largest order in Hongkou’s history at the CIIE. Kose Cosmetics (China) also saw a US$2 million increase in their transaction volume from last year.
This year, Hongkou's participation attracted businesses from Belt and Road countries, further fostering international cooperation.
For example, Nepal’s Highlander Agriculture made its debut at the CIIE, showcasing high-altitude organic tea from the southern slopes of the Himalayas. The company signed a US$2 million agreement with Japa Industrial (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.
Additionally, RuoYuChen, a digital brand management company, reached a US$7 million procurement agreement with South Korea’s Amore Pacific Group, one of the world's top ten cosmetics companies. Through cross-border e-commerce and the CIIE, the partnership seeks to meet new consumer demands and enhance brand experiences.
