The inaugural meeting of the Port City CPPCC Shipping Alliance has been held at the Yuanyang Hotel in Hongkou District.
In his speech, Xiao Guiyu, Vice Chairman of the Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) emphasized that the establishment of this cross-regional alliance represents an important and meaningful exploration of the CPPCC's work.
It reflects a commitment to national strategies and aims to enhance collaboration among port cities.
He urged the alliance to strengthen connections and focus on cooperative efforts in areas such as industrial transformation, technological innovation, and sustainable development to achieve high-quality growth in China's shipping industry.
Hongkou Party Secretary Li Qian highlighted Hongkou's efforts to promote "Shipping Hongkou" as part of Shanghai's broader mission to build five centers.
He expressed hope that the alliance would foster closer cooperation among port cities, enhancing resource synergy and sharing knowledge to deepen regulatory reforms and industrial innovation.
During the event, representatives from various cities, including Hefei, Nantong, Zhoushan and Yantai, signed a cooperation memorandum, emphasizing the alliance's role in promoting regional shipping industry collaboration and contributing to China's modernization efforts.
Additionally, a special consultation work station was inaugurated to serve as a platform for discussing policies and best practices, enabling members to enhance their contributions to the shipping sector.
The conference featured keynote speeches from notable figures, including Gu Jinshan, Chairman of Shanghai International Port Group, and Song Baoru, President of Shanghai Maritime University, who shared insights on the shipping industry's future.
The establishment of the alliance is seen as a significant step in leveraging Hongkou's rich maritime heritage and service infrastructure, aiming to facilitate high-quality development in the shipping industry through enhanced collaboration and policy sharing.
The meeting also included roundtable discussions on topics such as smart ports, green shipping, and maritime legal services, further promoting knowledge exchange among participants from various port cities.
Nearly 150 attendees, including local leaders and representatives from maritime enterprises, participated in this landmark event.
