The inaugural Shanghai International Light Festival's Hongkou venue officially opened at the Shanghai Port International Passenger Terminal.
As part of the festival, the North Bund light showcase made its debut, illuminating the facades of iconic buildings along the North Bund, such as the landmark Sinar Mas Plaza and International Port Building.
The light projections highlighted Hongkou's architectural characteristics and showcased the district's development achievements, transforming the waterfront into a dazzling display of lights.
The festival, themed "Traversing Light Years," is a collaborative effort by the district's Greening and City Appearance Bureau, Publicity Department, Commerce Commission, and Cultural and Tourism Bureau.
The Hongkou venue, under the theme "Haipai Light Post," celebrates the vibrant energy of the city, advocates for low-carbon lifestyles, and highlights Hongkou's rich cultural heritage as a vital showcase of modern Chinese development.
The venue features a layout of "One Belt and Two Circles," which includes the riverside display zone along the Huangpu River, the Ruihong Tiandi lifestyle circle, and the Sichuan Road N. cultural tourism circle.
In addition to the light showcase, interactive installations in the riverside display area provide an immersive light and shadow experience for visitors.
The Ruihong Tiandi lifestyle circle, centered around Ruihong Road, enhances various activities in the commercial area through light and shadow arrangements at landmarks like the Hall of the Sun, the Hall of the Moon, and Heping Park.
Meanwhile, the Sichuan Road N. cultural tourism circle integrates cultural and entertainment experiences around sites like Sichuan Road N. Park, the INLET, and the Shanghai Music Valley, along with commercial areas near Hongkou Football Stadium and the Hongkou Plaza.
Additionally, architectural projection shows at the INLET and "Hongkou Light and Shadow Chronicle" at the 1933 Old Millfun blend historical context with modern art, offering a visual feast for residents and visitors alike.
