Shanghai Normal University Affiliated Hongkou Middle School officially opened on September 28, coinciding with the birthday of the great philosopher and educator Confucius.
Hongkou District Party Secretary Li Qian congratulated the school on its inauguration and expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the Shanghai Education Commission and Shanghai Normal University for education in Hongkou.
He emphasized the importance of focusing on strengthening education, committing to the mission of nurturing talent, and leading the way in cultivating moral character and academic excellence among teachers.

Founded in 1954 as Shanghai Normal School, the institution has returned to Hongkou after 70 years, leveraging its educational resources to support the development of the affiliated middle school.
The new school is a merger of the former Hongkou High School and the Fifth Middle School, backed by the district government and the support of Shanghai Normal University and the local education bureau.
Spanning 29,123 square meters with a construction area of 62,444 square meters, it is one of the largest and most advanced schools in the district.
The ceremony also included the unveiling of three new bases: the "Shanghai Normal University Outstanding Teacher Training Practice Base," the "Shanghai Normal University Basic Education Research Base," and the "Shanghai Normal University Experimental Base for Cultivating Top Talents in Basic Sciences."
The Outstanding Teacher Training Base focuses on nurturing educational talent, while the Research Base promotes innovative academic and practical collaboration. The Experimental Base aims to integrate and share quality educational resources.
The school aims to establish a high-quality integrated educational system spanning from university to high school to middle school, actively exploring distinctive educational approaches in science and technology.
Sun Chengwei, 85, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a 1957 alumnus of Hongkou Middle School was invited to witness the occasion.
