The North Bund Green and Low-Carbon Service Industry Alliance was officially established at Henry Lester Institute of Technical Education on September 19.
The initiative focuses on developing new pathways for green and low-carbon services in Hongkou District, aligning with the city’s collaborative project to enhance industrial green transformation and promote low-carbon industrialization.
The meeting attracted over 150 participants, including representatives from local enterprises and the alliance's founding members.
The newly formed alliance comprises 60 companies, including the Shanghai Environmental and Energy Exchange, Three Gorges Shanghai Institute, Bluepha, and the China Quality Certification Center.
During the meeting, an initiative document was released, and the Shanghai Survey and Design Research Institute (Three Gorges Shanghai Institute) was elected as the first president of the alliance. The alliance aims to enhance platforms for green and low-carbon communication, develop service brands, and create a globally influential green low-carbon service industry.
Additionally, policies and a development map were introduced. In response to city and district initiatives for key industries, Hongkou has developed a working plan outlining 15 specific tasks, supported by a special fund of 100 million yuan (US$14.3 million).
The district also launched several measures to promote the high-quality development of green and low-carbon services, focusing on five areas and 16 support policies.
The meeting highlighted innovative scenarios for low-carbon initiatives. A strategic cooperation agreement was signed for a “virtual power plant” project involving State Grid Yingda, North Bund Group, and Anyue Energy Conservation Company.
This project will utilize expertise in managing carbon assets and energy technology to explore applications in the North Bund area.
Furthermore, the meeting announced a community-focused mobile charging demonstration project, including the establishment of Shanghai’s first interactive charging neighborhood in Hongkou.
The initiative aims to support Shanghai's goal of becoming a national-level city for scalable electric vehicle charging.
To encourage the growth of green and low-carbon enterprises, Hongkou has developed five specialized industrial parks, catering to various business needs.
During the enterprise exchange segment, representatives from leading companies in green shipping, finance, and carbon trading discussed innovations and industry trends.
The event culminated in the signing of 14 key projects related to the green low-carbon service industry, aimed at promoting collective growth and establishing Hongkou as a leader in the sector.
