Luo Dajin, the director of Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, led a team to Hongkou District for a research visit recently.
They explored local technology enterprises and incubation facilities and held a discussion on technological innovation work with Hongkou officials.
Last year, Hongkou maintained stable and healthy economic and social development, with the scientific and technological innovation sectors serving as a significant support.
Lu Ming, the director of Hongkou, explained that around the overall deployment of building Shanghai into an international science and technology innovation center, Hongkou focused on clustering headquarters of sci-tech enterprises, transforming scientific and technological achievements, and developing the technology service industry.
As a result, the district's technology service industry saw a revenue increase of 12.2 percent, with both the quantity and quality of technology enterprises rising.
Lu said Hongkou will continue to prioritize technological innovation as a key strategy in showcasing China's modernization, focusing on integrating science and technology with industries.
The district aims to develop emerging and future industries, supported by risk-sharing, benefit-sharing mechanisms, and an accelerated full-chain innovation mechanism to promote the growth of new quality productive forces and high-quality development.
Luo Dajin acknowledged Hongkou's emphasis on scientific and technological innovation, its alignment with global trends, and its positive development momentum.
The city’s science and technology commission will strengthen collaboration with Hongkou District to enhance the capabilities of scientific and technological innovation carriers, improve the innovation ecosystem, cultivate leading technology enterprises, and accelerate the development of the technology service industry, Luo said.
Efforts will be made to leverage the district's industrial strengths in financial technology, green and digital transformation of shipping, and enhance technology-enabled shipping center construction, contributing to the construction of Shanghai's science and innovation center.
During a visit to Bluepha Biotech, the delegation toured its strain platform and automation pilot platform and learned about its incubation platform.
Luo encouraged the company to persist in independent R&D in synthetic biology, seize market opportunities for green, low-carbon transformation, and circular economy, and aim to upgrade the innovation incubation platform to drive industry chain integration and form a complementary bioeconomy development ecosystem.
At the Design Innovation Institute Shanghai, the team received an introduction to the "Industry Reception Hall" operation and visited some master studios.
Luo Dajin expressed hope that the institute would continue promoting the integration of innovation and design, fostering a unique incubation model that enhances capabilities and better supports high-tech development.
