The "Shanghai Financiers" award ceremony took place at the Grand Halls on the North Bund in Hongkou District on February 29.
Lu Ming, the Director of Hongkou, along with other district leaders and previous award winners, attended the event alongside over 100 guests from the financial, corporate, and academic sectors.
The ceremony featured keynote speeches by Tu Guangshao, Executive Director of Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Zhang Jun, Dean of the School of Economics at Fudan University.
The "Shanghai Financiers" award, a cultural hallmark of Shanghai's international financial center construction, has been held for 13 consecutive editions, highlighting over 200 talented individuals in the financial sector and significantly enhancing Shanghai's soft power in international finance.
The event announced the winners of the "2023 Shanghai Financial Industry Leaders" award, honoring 11 elites including Long Baoyong, Party Secretary and General Manager of PICC Property and Casualty Co. Shanghai branch, and Li Wen, Party Secretary and General Manager of China Universal Asset Management Co.
Additionally, the "2023 Shanghai Financial Industry Innovators" were unveiled, recognizing nine individuals for their contributions.
The "2023 Shanghai International Financial Center Figures of the Year" were also announced, with awards going to Wang Yunfeng from HSBC China and He Qingwen from China Financial Futures Exchange.
For the first time, the "Shanghai Financiers Contribution Award" was presented, awarded to Tu Guangshao and Zhu Xiaoming, former dean and professor of management at China Europe International Business School.
Shanghai, with its various financial hubs and a growing transaction volume that ranks first globally, continues to attract a vast pool of financial talent. The city's financial sector now employs over 500,000 professionals, showcasing a strong "magnet effect" for top-tier talent.
In Hongkou District, efforts are underway to develop the North Bund into a global asset management center and fintech hub, with over 2,000 financial enterprises already established.
The Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange in Hongkou, for instance, serving as the operational body for national carbon emission trading, has been at the forefront of "carbon finance" innovation.
Organized by various media and financial institutions, the awards kicked off in September 2023, utilizing a combination of self-nominations, committee nominations, media reviews, online voting, and expert evaluations.
