Hongkou District has embarked on a significant urban renewal initiative, aiming to transform the area's functions and industries comprehensively.
The project was officially launched at the Hongkou District Urban Renewal Advancement Meeting held on December 21st.
The meeting saw the participation of key district leaders, including Li Qian, the Party Secretary of the district, who delivered a keynote speech. Yan Zuqiang from the Theme Education Municipal Committee's First Inspection Team provided guidance, while Lu Ming, the deputy Party secretary and district director, detailed the next phase's key tasks. The event was chaired by Guan Yetong, deputy district director, with other attendees such as Jiang Aifeng, deputy Party secretary of the district, and several other district leaders.
In his speech, Li Qian emphasized the importance of a holistic approach to urban renewal, viewing it as a critical path towards modernization and a necessary step for the district's future development. He stressed the need for systematic thinking and a strategic approach to this transformation. Li highlighted the importance of balancing various aspects of development and leveraging Hongkou's cultural districts to attract high-value enterprises and promote a synergistic development of the district's living, working, and ecological aspects.
Li Qian underscored the need for goal-oriented methods to ensure sustainable urban renewal, aligning spatial layout with functional transformation. He advocated for a people-centric city, improvement of the urban landscape, and cultural enhancement, calling for innovation in renewal methods and close collaboration with experts.
In his conclusion, Li Qian called for responsible action and solid progress in the urban renewal project, emphasizing the importance of cooperation, coordination, and skill development to overcome challenges and accelerate progress.
Lu Ming highlighted the significant role of urban renewal in driving development transformation and improving people's livelihood. He stressed the need for comprehensive, practical, and detailed approaches and called for improved coordination and faster implementation of key projects.
The meeting also featured contributions from representatives of various departments, including the district’s development and reform commission and the urban planning and land resources bureau, who shared their perspectives on the urban renewal initiatives.
