The 2023 Shanghai International City and Architecture Expo, one of the supporting theme events of World City Day, was held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Hall from October 30 to November 1.
As one of the six main areas of the expo, the Hongkou District Forum of the 2023 Shanghai International City and Architecture Expo was held at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Hall on October 31, with the theme of "Integration of New and Old, Smart Resilience, Future City".
The North Bund of Hongkou, as the only golden area in the center of Shanghai that can be planned and deeply developed, is continuously exploring how to do a good job in top-level design, promote low-carbon and intelligent development, and improve the quality of urban construction through refined management to better support the new concept of urban development take root. In recent years, the North Bund has focused on both low-carbon construction and smart development, with the building of the Shanghai Low Carbon Development Practice Zone as the starting point. Focusing on the integration need of green development characterized by "zero carbonization, people-oriented, and digital", Hongkou benchmarked the international influence of CAZ, studied and developed a green top-level plan for the North Bund, actively promoted special research on super high-rise energy and carbon dual control, green and low-carbon industries, and smart energy. Efforts were made to build a world-class carbon-neutral water bank model. Moreover, Hongkou would implement the urban digital transformation, accelerate the construction of the "North Bund Core Area’s Digital Element City" and the application scenario of "waterfront intelligent management", empower with digital technology, and propel high-standard construction.
In the new round of planning and layout of the North Bund, a super high-rise building complex led by a 480-meter super tower in Neighborhood 91 of the North Bund will reshape the spatial pattern of the North Bund. The high tower body, the distinctive tower crown, and the tower bottom that blend with the environment not only emphasize the visual connection from the ground to the sky, but also demonstrate the public openness of the building to citizens and tourists, echoing the requirements of the world-class urban reception hall on the North Bund and showcasing the beauty of nature, culture, and technology.
To promote low-carbon and smart development in the North Bund area, the district has made efforts to continuously promote green buildings and building energy efficiency, accelerate the building of a convenient green travel system, and comprehensively promote the digital transformation and construction of the North Bund. In the future, the North Bund will firmly adhere to the "intensive, intelligent, green, and low-carbon" new urbanization path, strengthen the government leadership, gather all forces, accelerate the promotion of high-quality urban development, and spare no effort to build a new benchmark of "green, low-carbon, smart, and livable".
The forum also invited guests from East China Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., Shanghai Design and Building Science Research Institute Co., Ltd., Tongji University Architectural Design and Research Institute (Group) Co., Ltd., and KPF Architecture Firm to give keynote speeches on topics such as urban planning and design, green ecological urban areas, digital transformation, and the 480-meter new landmark of the North Bund in Shanghai.
At the forum, Guan Yetong, Standing Member and Deputy District Governor of the CPC District Committee, Li Xiangmin, Vice President of Shanghai Jianke Group Co., Ltd., and Han Jihong, Senior Chief Engineer of Shanghai Institute of Building Science Co., Ltd. co-launched the release device of the "Green and Low Carbon Special Plan Outline for the Core Area of the North Bund", showed research achievements in the green and low carbon field of the North Bund, and helped the North Bund achieve the goal of operating a world-class carbon neutral water bank model.
