On July 28, Aunt Chen, a resident at No. 19, Lane 61, Balin Road, Quyang Road Sub-district, called the program "2022 Summer Hotline: Interview with District Governor" to say that the elevator installation project of her own building had been announced as early as January this year, but it has not started yet after a half year.
According to an official of the sub-district, the construction of the elevator installation project was delayed due to the pandemic. At present, it has been accelerated and if there are no problems, the construction can start next week.
Now, how is Aunt Chen's concern? The reporter conducted a field visit. At nearly 3 p.m. a few days ago, the reporter came to No. 19, Lane 61, Balin Road, finding that it was surrounded by green barriers, and the side was reserved for residents to enter and exit.
The area within the green baffle was the construction space for installing elevators. So for, the foundation excavation of the elevator shaft had been carrying out, and several workers were busy at the site.
Lin Nanting, the principal of the construction agent, said that after comprehensive assessment of the pandemic situation, the elevator installation project of Building 19 was officially started on July 29. In consideration of the safety of workers in hot weather and in order not to affect the daily rest of residents, the operation mode of "working at both ends and resting in the middle" is adopted to avoid the high-temperature period of the day.
In order to speed up the construction progress, the construction agent also synchronized some subsequent processes. For example, in the beginning, the rebar parts for the foundation of the elevator shaft were planned to be bound on the site after the foundation excavation is completed. But at present, the process of binding rebars has been implemented in the factory. In this way, only after the foundation excavation is completed, the bundled rebars can be filled in.
Seeing that the long-awaited installation of the elevator finally started, Aunt Chen could not conceal her excitement. She told that since she moved in in 1992, it had become more difficult to climb the stairs when she was over 70 years old, and two-thirds of the residents in the building were old people like her.
"There is a centenarian who has not gone downstairs for several years. After the transformation of 'beautiful home', our community is really very good, with gardens and footpaths. In the future, after the installation of elevators, the elderly can go downstairs and enjoy these facilities", said Aunt Chen.
Up to now, Balin Community has completed the installation of 3 elevators. Geng Liang, Party Chief of General Party Branch of Balin Residential Area, introduced that the completed elevators have greatly facilitated the life of residents since they were put into use, and they have also become a living textbook to promote the installation of elevators in the community.
On the premise of doing a good job in various pandemic prevention measures, Quyang Road Sub-district has been actively promoting the installation of elevators in existing multi-storey houses. At present, nearly 30 elevators are under construction.
Over the years, in order to solve the problem of the elderly living in midair getting off the building, Hongkou has thoroughly implemented the important concept of "The people's cities are built by and for the people". The District Housing Management Bureau has led relevant departments and sub-districts to further explore the installation of elevators in the whole community and whole neighborhood committee and promote the mass construction. This year, 105 units have passed the consultation and 136 units are under construction.
