Sub-districts of Hongkou Carry out Convenient Service Activities on Int’l Volunteer Day

December 5 is the 35th International Volunteer Day. Sub-districts of Hongkou District hold volunteer service activities to carry forward the spirit of volunteerism and pass on the power of public welfare.

The new era civilization practice sub-center of Jiangwan Town Sub-district launches a large-scaled service activity for citizens with the theme of "International Volunteer Day". A total of 80 volunteers from 11 units (teams), including regional units, Party organizations of new economic organizations and new social organizations and the Hongxin volunteer studio, bring about nearly 20 services, including haircutting, repairing small household appliances, repairing glasses, grinding keys, medical consultation and legal consultation and others.

Mr. Zhang, a resident, is an office worker with great work pressure. He often works late at night in the face of computers. After a long time, his cervical spine issued a "protest", and the headache problem also came to him. This time, Shanghai Fourth People's Hospital moves to set the pain department, the respiratory department and the orthopedics department, so as to provide professional medical consultation for residents. Mr. Zhang says that he often feel pain and is very upset. Now he feels much more relieved.

There are a lot of stalls for repairs on the spot. In a pair of skillful hands of volunteers, a broken umbrella, a rusty kitchen knife and an incomplete key are repaired. The repair of some old objects is no problem. 70-year-old Zhang Dayao is a member of the Hongxin Volunteer Studio. A second-visit customer hands an old radio to Zhang Dayao. He glances at it and says, "The product made in the 1970s have missing parts. It can be used after the parts are reinstalled." Meanwhile, he starts to repair. Zhang Dayao explains carefully and keeps working. After a while, the old radio works.

A volunteer recruitment area is set up in a corner of the activity site. In less than an hour, five residents fill in the application form. Mr. Liu, one of them, is a white-collar in the enterprise within the jurisdiction. Touched by the warm scenery, he says, "I can't wait to take part in the volunteer service. I want to make contribution to the volunteer team with my own strength."

There are also volunteer services in the Ruifeng Mansion of the North Bund community,. In response to the call of the Party Building Service Center of Hongkou, the Community Party and Mass Service Center of the North Bund Sub-district carries out voluntary service activities. Members of Shanghai Integrated Chinese and Western Hospital, Hongkou District Health Supervision Institute, Hongkou District Customs, China Insurance Co., Ltd., the community health service center of the North Bund Sub-district and the Party Member Volunteer Studio of the Party and Mass Center have been invited to provide anti-fraud consultation, law publicity, massage consultation, preventive disease consultation, blood glucose measurement, pediatric consultation and other services.

The Party and Mass Service Center of Ouyang Road Sub-district launches a large-scaled Party member volunteer service activity with the theme of International Volunteer Day, providing minor repairs, green maintenance consultation, law consultation and other services. It is reported that Ouyang Road Sub-district is building a civilized brand of "Striving to Be a Volunteer for One Hour", whose service scope is extending from the initial epidemic prevention and control to more service contents, including community theory preaching, service for the elderly, garbage sorting, safe patrol, science, education, culture and sanitation and others.
