On December 7, it is learned from the district greening and city appearance bureau that Guangyue Road (the section from East Wenshui Road to Fengzhen Road) has been awarded the Shanghai Green Road in 2020, and the total number of municipal green roads in Hongkou District has increased to 3.
Guangyue Road, which starts from East Wenshui Road in the south and ends at Fengzhen Road in the north, has a total length of about 1.3 kilometers. The road has a characteristic scenery of appreciating colorful flowers in spring and summer and admiring foliage in autumn and winter by relying on the greenway on the east and accompanied by red deutzia scabra thunb and flowering shrub including trident maple, rhododendron, hosta and spiraea by the road.
In order to create the regional greening characteristics of "One Scene by One Step, One Kind of Flower on One Road", the district greening and city appearance bureau has also opened a new greenway across Guangyue Road based on the original green space. Meanwhile, the public open space with different cultural themes and needs is designed along the greenway to form street gardens with different themes, which are not only the leisure of residents, but also the activity station on the sports path. For example, Zhou Park, named from "boat" and "fishing", integrates modern landscape construction techniques. A unique landscape corridor is built in the park, and the ground-covered flowers, such as sage, create a vivid landscape.
The building of green roads began in 2017. According to the requirements of "Shanghai Green Roads Assessment Method", the Shanghai Afforestation Department builds a number of green roads every year. A few years ago, Siping Road and Xinjian Road in Hongkou were awarded the municipal green roads successfully.
Next, the district afforestation and city appearance bureau will, according to the work requirements of "green, colorful, rare and efficient", continuously strengthen and improve the construction quality of green roads, promote new and excellent street-tree species, enhance the quality of green space along the road, so as to let more residents see and walk into the green space.
