High-standard "Beauty" Brings Light Show back to the North Bund

No dead corner should be left in the street washing. People can sit on the floor in key cleaning areas. Rivers in Hongkou are brilliant. Recently, it is learned from the Hongkou District Greening and City Appearance Bureau that the city appearance and environment renovation project of the 3rd China International Import Expo (CIIE) formulated by the district at the beginning of this year has been completed, and the overall appearance and environment of the region has been improved.

In terms of urban cleaning, Hongkou District Greening and City Appearance Bureau has carried out refinement cleaning for key areas such as river banks along Huangpu River and Suzhou Creek and important roads. At the same time, nearly 80 outstanding young backbone personnel were selected from the District Environmental Sanitation Center and Shanghai Hongkou Urban Construction Development Co., Ltd. to form the joint support commando for the CIIE. The post section of the North Bund area was re-planned. A new type of hand-propelled electric sweeper was equipped to maximize the effect of combining mechanical sweeping with manual cleaning and to ensure that the 13 important roads in the North Bund area reach the high-quality cleaning standard of "sitting on the ground".

The urban cleaning campaign of "cleaning up dead corners, eliminating blind areas and flushing" has improved the urban sanitation in an all-round way. As of October 28, 1,152 road cleaners, 388 small-sized cleaning equipments and 499 large-sized mechanized cleaning equipments were deployed in the district, dead corners and blind areas were cleaned up for 239 times, and the amount of garbage removed was about 18 tons. In addition, the urban management and law enforcement bureau of the district and other departments were united to further rectify urban management problems, such as setting up scattered and disorderly stalls, posting at highways and elevated roads disorderly, setting up external facades in disorder, parking bicycles randomly, and throwing objects in green spaces, and a total of 176 problems were rectified.

Besides being clean and tidy, the urban environment should be beautiful and colorful. In combination with the "Double Festival" of the National Day and the Mid-autumn Festival, the district greening and city appearance bureau upgraded the green space along the roads along the key areas guaranteed by the CIIE by newly building three-dimensional flower beds and green carvings. A total of 5,076.5 square meters of flower beds and flower borders and 431 square meters of green carvings were built. On the basis of last year, the upgrading of Guangyue Road greenway was completed two months ahead of schedule, which not only extended the construction of 800 meters greenway, but also newly built 3 street gardens. Flower boxes of isolation belt at key guarantee sections including Changzhi Road, Dongdaming Road and Xinjian Road were replace. New varieties of flowers, such as calla, Christmas flower and Western azalea were added to create a strong festival atmosphere of the CIIE.

According to the "Overall Plan for Landscape Lighting on Both Sides of Huangpu River", Hongkou District Greening and City Appearance Bureau further coordinated and promoted the joint commissioning and test of building landscape lighting for 2.5-kilometer waterfront on the North Bund. Full-color laser lamps were installed on the top of the International Port Building, Magnolia Square and Raffles Square on the North Bund respectively. Combining with the riverside broadcasting system of the North Bund, Hongkou District Greening and City Appearance Bureau carefully created and arranged the lighting show performance of about 5 minutes. During the CIIE, the waterfront along the North Bund will once again turn into a light show site, presenting a more distinctive, hierarchical, stylish and charming art picture for the public and tourists.

Next, Hongkou District Greening and City Appearance Bureau will fully rely on the municipal city appearance management joint conference platform, organize all departments and sub-districts to strengthen the comprehensive supervision of key guarantee areas, and check and correct problems as soon as they are found, so as to ensure that the city appearance and environmental protection within the jurisdiction reaches the highest standard, meets the most stringent requirements and is in the best state.
