Public Greenization Enhanced

In order to meet the need of inspecting the establishment of national civilized city, the District Greening and Urban Appearance Bureau made a special plan a few days ago to carry out centralized rectification to barren public space, drop litter and other uncivilized phenomena, to improve main roads and secondary ones, and to further clean the public toilets in farmers’ markets, thus fully improving the overall urban environment.

Enhancing public greenization is one of the important contents of inspecting the establishment of national civilized city. In response, the Bureau, Shanghai Hongkou Urban Construction and Development Co., Ltd., and the sub-districts check the public green-space along the roads one by one, find out the problems, and set up a WeChat group for real-time communication. And the full-time staff will contact the work unit to make rectification once there is barren space, vegetation in need of maintenance, damaged public facilities or other problems.

Reflected in the WeChat group, the general greening-based problems must be solved within 24 hours; and the difficult ones should be solved within 3 working days, which should be implemented and completed according to the regulations in a bid to cause no secondary pollution. Up to now, 10,504-square-meter land in more than 300 sites is replanted.

According to the situation surveyed in the early stage, the Bureau sets up an inspection group to carry out thorough inspection on the green space along the sub-districts attached to 169 key residential areas in Hongkou, and to maintain the green space without specific management subjects, and to mobilize the community volunteers to assist in the daily maintenance, so as to green the whole district.

In view of insufficient publicity of establishing national civilized city and inconspicuous signs in some parks, the Bureau follows the assessment standards, and urges the parks to implement rectifications in specified time to constantly improve the overall environment.

In terms of the cleaning in urban areas, the Bureau coordinates the sanitation company to raise the cleaning standards, and makes profound cleaning and renovation to key roads, key sites, landmarks and so on in Hongkou; and the people in charge of each section carry out the inspection and acceptance without missing any corner. Besides, the sanitation company will arrange to maintain the qualified roads, in order to keep normal and long-term daily cleaning for the first-level roads, and to maintain beautiful street appearance and beautiful space. According to the statistics, 5,790 cleaners are dispatched to clean 1,776 vehicles and clean up more than 2,500 tons of garbage.

Moreover, the Bureau will establish a three-level inspection mechanism for the district, sub-districts and sanitation companies, inspect weak links of the future civilized urban areas irregularly every day, and solve the problem immediately if finding it out. At the same time, the Bureau, the District Urban Management Law Enforcement Bureau and other departments will increase the assessment of construction waste transporting franchises in a bid to avoid dust or road pollution by washing the vehicles.
