Hongkou Alliance of Museums Established

The International Museum Day falls on May 18 when Hongkou's cultural tourism field has two pieces of good news that Hongkou Alliance of Museums is established, and the renovated Site-Memorial is reopened. In the form of webcast, it is attended by Ma Wenyun, Deputy Chairman of the Shanghai Writers’ Association, and Wu Qiang, Standing Member and Publicity Director of the CPC District Committee.

As an exploration of the culture and tourism development, the relevant department sets up the Alliance under the leadership of the CPC District Committee and the District Government. The Alliance gathers the memorial halls of the 1st Congress and the 2nd Congress of the Communist Party of China, Longhua Martyrs Memorial, Songhu Anti-Japanese War Memorial, Ba Jin’s Former Residence and other venues in Shanghai, and pools Guo Moruo Memorial in Beijing, the 9.18 Historical Museum and other venues all over the country, which is rich in types and contents. It is aimed to set up the platform for communication among museums and between visitors and museums, and to make a good environment for the district's cultural undertakings and tourism industry.

In order to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the founding, the Site-Memorial is renovated and reopened to the public, and has expanded from more than 100 square meters to 350 square meters. Its functional layout is optimized, and it opens up a tourist service center, cultural and innovative store, and volunteer service station, so as to build a multifunctional space for display, learning and rest.

Displaying more than 300 pictures, more than 400 old-version books and magazines, more than 100 sets of objects used by left-wing members and 10 multimedia devices, the Site-Memorial reproduces the history of the Left-Wing Writers Union, and reflects the activities of the drama union, the art union, the federation of social affairs and the film group from different angles, thus offering a more complete presentation of the history of the left-wing cultural movement.

Culture is the soul of a country and a nation. As a cultural district, Hongkou has rich historical and cultural resources, all kinds of former sites, former residence of celebrities, excellent historical buildings, and rich types of resources, which is like a boundless museum. In recent years, the CPC District Committee and the District Government have attached great importance to cultural construction and issued important documents such as the “Decision on Promoting the Construction of Cultural District”, and have fixed attention on making museums and memorials with rich cultural resources better inherit civilization and spread culture.

By now, the four kinds of history such as the history of the CPC, the history of the P.R.C., the history of reform and opening up, and the history of socialist development are being carried out in an orderly manner in Shanghai.

The study on the four kinds of history, as an important deployment for the CPC Municipal Committee to implement General-secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions and establish a long-term education mechanism themed on staying true to original aspirations and keeping in mind the missions, centers on telling historical stories, applying revolutionary resources, laying a solid ideological foundation for the CPC members and cadres, and enhancing the opening-up and advance. As the Alliance is a great platform, the district will effectively integrate cultural resources of Hongkou, Shanghai and all over the country, so as to popularize the red culture, red resources and the CPC-based classes. Besides, we need to inherit revolutionary history, make good use of red resources, and carry forward revolutionary tradition.
