Guangzhong Road Sub-district Offers ICH Courses
By Zhang Wencheng
Guangzhong Road Sub-district offered a course on the charms of at-sea intangible cultural heritages (ICH) a few days ago, and invited ICH inheritors to teach children to make burr puzzle. Known as Kong Ming Lock and the Eight-diagram Lock, burr puzzle is the ancient Chinese national traditional fixed combiner for civil architecture.
He Yousheng, a technical inheritor of Chinese traditional wedding-custom woodwork, planed, chiseled and put up several pieces of wood blocks at the scene to make a removable burr puzzle with the blocks fitting together perfectly. Under the guidance of He, the children tried to cut the blocks with saws, chiseled them and put them up, and tasted the charm of burr puzzle rated as the Chinese magic cube. According to the students from Guangzhong Community, trying to make burr puzzle has enhanced their understanding of ICH culture.
According to He, the Chinese mortise and tenon joint invented by Lu Ban is very famous. It is a good way for children to make their own burr puzzle in the course. He hoped that the ICH culture can be carried forward on with the continuous development of sciences and technologies.
The courses about the production of the gourd lamp and the paper-cut technique will be offered to further enrich the summer life of the Community, in order to make the children better understand the Chinese traditional culture.
