Founded in 1995 as an economic entity of independent legal person, the company focuses on the designing, production, and sales of products and systems for satellite communication, positioning, navigation, and so on. The quality and performance of Beidou GPS dual-mode terminal products far surpass similar products in the country, so they are widely used in China. For example, the application of Beidou GPS products in "Nansha Sea Fishing Vessel Position Monitoring System" project of South China Sea Fishery Port Supervision Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture fundamentally solved such problems as ship position monitoring, risk report, salvage, and so on, enhanced the level of modern fishery management, and safeguarded national maritime rights and interests. So far, over 60% of the fishing vessels in coastal area have adopted the product which becomes the largest terminal equipment supplier to marine fishery industry of Beidou Satellite system. Adhering to the market-oriented principle, the company strives to survive with technological advantage and develop with innovation and independent intellectual property right. The company has acquired patents, software copyrights, software product registration certificate and registered trademarks of its own. The special communication antenna with proprietary technology for the Jiaolong manned deep-sea submersible successfully challenged the depth of 7500 meters. The "Marine Terminal Equipment of Beidou System" and the "SGP-GPS Navigator" were listed in the projects of "SME Innovation Fund of the Ministry of Science and Technology" and "Shanghai High-tech Achievement Transformation Plan". The company was also honored as "Famous Brand Products/Service" of Shanghai SMEs. In 2009, the company established Global Satellite Navigation Joint Laboratory, the only joint laboratory on satellite navigation in China, in cooperation with the University of Nottingham, which further improved the competitiveness of the company in the R&D of satellite navigation system and laid the foundation for international cooperation.
