Introduction to Shanghai Energy Saving Environmental Protection Industry Park

Covering an area of 32,353 square meters and a construction area of 50,000 square meters, Shanghai Energy Saving Environmental Protection Industry Park (hereinafter referred to as "SESEP Industry Park") is located at No. 121, Zhongshanbeiyi Road, Hongkou District. Formerly the site of Shanghai Cosmopolitan Automobile Accessory Co., Ltd., it had been reconstructed by Shanghai Cosmopolitan Automobile Accessory Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Creative Industry Center since January 2008. The reconstruction project was completed in May 2009 and the park is currently under the management of Shanghai Energy Saving Technology Co., Ltd. In 2010, it was listed in the first batch of Demonstrative Creation Industry Centers of Shanghai.

Highlighting the industrial characteristics of energy saving and environment friendly, the park set up four major functions, namely "exhibition, trade, gathering, and service". There are such national and municipal level core functional organizations of energy saving and environment protection as China Quality Testing Center, Shanghai Energy Efficiency Center, Shanghai Environment Energy Exchange,Shanghai Energy Management Contract Office, and Shanghai Scientific Energy Conservation Museum, and so on, and over 80 energy saving and environment protection enterprises including AnYo. Having hosted academic meetings, forums, and seminars in the field of energy saving and environment protection for many times, it has been chosen as the main venue of Shanghai Energy Saving Week since 2009.

So far, it has become the center of energy saving and environment protection in Shanghai and the business incubator of related enterprises in the industry. The carbon trade in Shanghai Environment Energy Exchange accounts for 70% of that in the whole country. Recently, Shanghai is carrying out many innovative practices on carbon trade which are recognized by National Development and Reform Commission. A multitude of SMEs like YYTOILET, Daily Enterprise, and so on, is growing in the business incubator in Building B8 of the park. Meanwhile, an energy management contract enterprise alliance covering over 200 related enterprises in the park and surrounding area was formed to centralize the management of the industry and unify the market exploration. In 2012, the value of the contracts realized by the alliance has reached ￥150 million.

In 2011, the region centered on SESEP Industry Park was named by Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology as Shanghai Low Carbon Economy Production Service Functional Area, a concept mentioned by the city in its industrial layout for the first time. On the basis of the SESEP Industry Park, the district is creating a joint action mechanism among park area, street area, business area, and community area to promote the development of low carbon life in Hongkou.
