The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference & High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance concluded successfully in Shanghai on July 20, with a batch of key AI projects signing cooperation agreements. Chen Shuai, Deputy District Chief of Hongkou District, attended the ceremony and formally signed the investment agreement with Synthoid (Shanghai) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd.
Settling in Hongkou in May 2025, Synthoid Intelligent is a tech enterprise dedicated to the R&D and industrial application of embodied intelligence technologies. It strives to build a next-generation algorithm-defined hardware robotic platform, with its business focus covering industrial assembly, quality inspection, flexible manufacturing and other scenarios. The company’s founder Sun Xinhai is only 26 years old, and its core team consists of graduates from prestigious domestic and overseas universities including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, Fudan University and Imperial College London. The team has expanded rapidly within its first year of establishment.
Outstanding technical prowess is the core strength that has brought Synthoid wide industry attention. The self-developed SaiVLA-0 is the world’s first high-performance Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model adopting a neuroscience-inspired three-system architecture mimicking the brain, pons and cerebellum. On LIBERO, a top benchmark for embodied intelligence research, it set a new global public record with an average success rate of 99.0%. It delivers an inference latency of merely around 40 milliseconds and boosts training efficiency by 67%, taking the lead across all three core indicators.
Notably, Synthoid ranks among China’s few industrial embodied intelligence projects that have deployed explicit world models in real manufacturing environments. The company has completed real-scenario verification on production lines for core components of high-end new energy vehicles. It is expected to generate revenues at the ten-million-yuan level this year, with a target of nearly 100 million yuan in revenue next year.
Regarding the signing ceremony, Sun Xinhai, Founder of Synthoid, stated that the company chose Hongkou not only for its superior geographic location, but more importantly because Hongkou fully understands technology, industrial development and the needs of tech enterprises. “Hongkou’s prime location and talent agglomeration effect are critical for us to attract top R&D professionals,” he commented.
The signing marks a new addition to Hongkou’s embodied intelligence industrial ecosystem. Embodied intelligence centers on an agent’s capacity to perceive, comprehend, make decisions and take actions in the physical world. Aligned with this development path, Synthoid is advancing the shift of robotic technologies out of laboratories and onto actual production lines. As Sun Xinhai put it: “We do not develop self-serving technologies. We create practical solutions that solve real pain points for our clients.”
