The international finals of the 2025 BRICS Vocational Skills Competition for Digital Interactive Media Design kicked off on the afternoon of July 14 at Shanghai Nanhu Vocational and Technical College. Centered on skill competitions in digital interactive media, the event establishes an international platform for skill exchange, integration of industry and vocational education, and people-to-people exchanges among BRICS nations, boosting high-quality development and international cooperation in vocational education.
Launched in 2022, the BRICS Vocational Skills Competition has grown into a flagship event for vocational education across BRICS countries. To date, it has attracted over 6,800 international teams from more than a dozen nations including Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa, alongside more than 21,000 domestic Chinese teams. As BRICS cooperation continues to expand, the Chinese working group advances five core priorities: standards formulation, international training base construction, human resource platform development, applied research and innovation, and cross-border exchange and collaboration. China aims to promote its vocational skill standards globally and calls on all BRICS members to jointly build a unified skill evaluation system to lift international vocational education cooperation standards.
Shanghai Nanhu Vocational and Technical College, the event’s organizer, is Shanghai’s first new public vocational college co-built by the municipal and district governments. Aligned with the development of North Bund and the city’s digital transformation agenda, the college delivers integrated vocational education services across the Yangtze River Delta and has been recognized as a National Digital Campus and a National Pilot Institution for Virtual Simulation Training Bases.
Its School of Digital Creative Industries focuses on the digital economy, offering majors covering digital media, virtual reality and artificial intelligence. Adhering to the philosophy of “creativity empowered by technical expertise and integrated theory and practice”, the college implements a comprehensive education model integrating vocational posts, coursework, competitions and vocational certifications. It collaborates with leading cultural and creative enterprises to build training platforms, embedding industrial standards and competition norms into teaching curricula, and cultivating a large cohort of high-caliber technical talents specialized in digital interaction and new media development.
