On the afternoon of July 15, Li Qian, Secretary of the District Party Committee, visited and inspected key shipping enterprises and functional institutions in Hongkou District. He conducted on-site inspections of their operations, industrial layout for green shipping and other work, and held exchange forums with relevant institutional executives.
As a vital national shipping trading and service institution, the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE) has long committed itself to gathering shipping resources and standardizing market development. A core affiliate under the Shanghai Exchange Group, the SSE is currently spearheading the development of a green fuel certification system under the guidance of industry authorities. The initiative supports Shanghai’s goals of peaking carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality in waterborne transport, facilitating the low-carbon transition of the shipping industry. Li Qian held a discussion with Guan Xiaojun, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Shanghai Exchange Group, during his visit to the SSE.
Li Qian stressed that green shipping constitutes a pivotal measure for Hongkou to implement the dual carbon strategy and advance high-quality shipping development. The development positioning of the Shanghai Shipping Exchange aligns strategically with the district’s growth agenda, enabling mutual empowerment between the two sides. Both parties must elevate their political stance, deepen strategic coordination, and actively integrate into and serve national strategies. He urged the SSE to align its development with Hongkou’s high-quality growth agenda, expand service scenarios via digital technologies to drive sustainable development, and translate its platform strengths into industrial competitiveness. The exchange should coordinate with all local functional shipping platforms to jointly foster an open, shared ecosystem for shipping services. Hongkou District will continue to fully support the SSE’s development as the two sides work together to bolster Shanghai’s role as an international shipping center.
