The top official of Hongkou District has visited major trading companies to assess operations and discuss strategies to stabilize growth and strengthen economic development.
During the visit, district Party Secretary Li Qian met with executives from Borouge Trading (Shanghai) Co Ltd and Shanghai Jahwa United Co Ltd, focusing on business performance, future planning and market expansion.
Borouge Trading (Shanghai), a regional headquarters of its parent company Borouge, specializes in the import and distribution of plastics and chemical products.
The firm is jointly established by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Borealis, and provides polyolefin solutions across sectors including infrastructure, energy and healthcare.
Li said the company should leverage its global resources to optimize product structures, expand its domestic footprint and deepen international cooperation.
He also encouraged participation in building global shipping and trade supply chain service platforms to enhance regional economic connectivity.
At Shanghai Jahwa, a cosmetics and personal care company with more than a century of history, Li highlighted the importance of innovation and brand development. The company owns well-known brands such as Herborist, Dr. Yu and Six God.
Li urged the company to strengthen research and development, respond to evolving consumer demand and expand its presence in overseas markets, while continuing to preserve its cultural heritage.
Local officials said Hongkou will continue to provide policy support and improve the business environment to help companies grow and contribute to high-quality economic development.
