The Sinar Mas International Medical Division of the Shanghai Fourth People’s Hospital officially opened its doors on April 1, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s efforts to enhance high-end healthcare services and meet diverse patient needs.
Located at 512 Zhapu Road in Hongkou District, the new facility adds an international-grade healthcare hub to Shanghai’s fast-developing North Bund area.
Spanning 3,400 square meters across two floors in the Jihui Building, the division integrates advanced medical technology with comprehensive services ranging from general practice to sports rehabilitation, traditional Chinese medicine, cosmetic surgery, and wellness management.
It includes two ultra-clean operating rooms, a medical aesthetics center, a specialized acupuncture and TCM therapy unit, and a sports rehab center, all equipped with cutting-edge diagnostics and recovery systems such as GE MRI and CT scanners and Stryker arthroscopy tools.
Hongkou District Director Lu Ming toured the facility during its launch, underscoring local government support for healthcare innovation aligned with Shanghai’s “14th Five-Year Plan” to internationalize medical standards and insurance systems.
The international division offers full-spectrum care. General practice services cater to all ages with integrated support for common ailments, chronic conditions, routine check-ups, and prescription refills.
The sports rehabilitation center serves athletes and fitness-focused residents with tailored therapy plans designed by a multidisciplinary team of orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, and rehabilitation specialists.
Traditional Chinese medicine services target conditions such as sleep disorders, obesity, arthritis, and spinal pain through a blend of ancient and modern techniques including acupuncture, herbal therapies, cupping, massage, and moxibustion.
Specialist services leverage the hospital’s recognized strengths in departments such as internal medicine, surgery, and obstetrics. Multidisciplinary treatment teams (MDTs) provide customized care for complex cases.
In medical aesthetics, a team with overseas training offers advanced anti-aging procedures, reconstructive surgeries, and high-end laser treatments, all under strict clinical protocols.
The center also provides personalized health management services for individuals and corporate clients, supported by state-of-the-art screening technologies and long-term care strategies.
Affiliated with Tongji University, the century-old Shanghai Fourth People’s Hospital has grown significantly in recent years. It currently operates 52 departments, including one national key specialty and four city-level key disciplines. The opening of this international unit aligns with Shanghai’s strategic push to globalize healthcare standards and insurance systems.
The new medical division is expected to serve as a key health service gateway for residents and businesses in the North Bund area, offering high-quality, multi-tiered medical care that meets the expectations of local and international patients alike.
