The Hongkou District Foreign Investment Enterprises Association held its annual New Year’s gathering at the Binjiang Commercial Center’s the INLET on January 5.
The event was attended by over 40 representatives from member companies, including Hongkou District Director Lu Ming, and Deputy Director Chen Shuai, alongside Liang Meifen, President of the Hongkou District Foreign Investment Enterprises Association.
The ceremony included a traditional unveiling of New Year couplets by Lu Ming and Liang Meifen, featuring the blessing: "A prosperous business brings great success, with a reputation that stretches across the seas and lands."
The symbolic gesture marked a positive outlook for the association's continued growth and success in the coming year.
The event also highlighted Hongkou's impressive foreign investment achievements. According to local officials, the district saw a remarkable 35.76 percent year-on-year increase in foreign investment in 2024, ranking it first among all districts in Shanghai.
The district’s focus on high-level openness, tapping into the potential of existing enterprises, and strategically guiding foreign investments into emerging industries contributed to this success.
Hongkou has attracted 90 key foreign investment projects. Additionally, 20 new corporate headquarters have been established in the district, further boosting Hongkou’s role as a hub for high-end corporate headquarters and foreign R&D centers.
The gathering also recognized outstanding contributions from member enterprises, with Deputy Director Chen Shuai presenting the “2024 Vibrancy Star Award” to six companies.
Panasonic’s representative expressed the company’s continued confidence in Hongkou’s development.
Following the award ceremony, participating enterprises toured the Binjiang Commercial Center, further strengthening ties within the business community.
