Hongkou District Party Secretary Li Qian met with Lian Ping, Chairman of the China Chief Economist Forum (CCEF) and President of Guangkai Chief Research Institute on December 5, to discuss strengthening cooperation and promoting regional economic development.
The China Chief Economist Forum, established in 2012 by Xia Bin, former counselor of the State Council and director of the Financial Research Institute of the State Council Development Research Center, brings together over 90 top economists from leading financial institutions both domestic and international.
In 2016, the forum officially settled in Hongkou, and in 2017, the China Chief Economist Forum Research Institute was established in the district.
With the strong support of the Hongkou District government, the Shanghai Hongkou North Bund International Finance Society (2021) and the Shanghai Chief Economist Financial Development Center (2022) were also founded.
The forum focuses on contributing to the high-quality development of China's economy and the country's opening-up strategy, aiming to be a significant player in Shanghai's international financial hub.
Li expressed gratitude to the CCEF for its continued support of Hongkou's economic development. He highlighted the importance of the forum as a leading economic think tank in China, noting that its research outcomes and policy recommendations are critical for advancing China's economic growth.
Li emphasized that Hongkou is currently undergoing a vital phase of economic transformation and upgrading, and the insights from such high-level think tanks are crucial to supporting the district's development.
He further stated that Hongkou looks forward to continued collaboration with the CCEF to foster financial innovation and industry upgrading, ensuring that the district's policies are more scientifically and strategically developed.

He noted that since its inception, the forum has maintained a global perspective, focusing on China's economic growth and financial market issues, while providing valuable research and policy recommendations to the government and investors.
Since establishing itself in Hongkou, the forum has received significant support from local authorities, leading to fruitful collaborations in various areas.
