Hongkou District celebrated the commencement of its major construction projects for 2024 with a launch ceremony at the Hyatt on the Bund at 199 Huangpu Road on February 18.
The event, which is part of Shanghai’s ongoing Investment Promotion Season, signifies a strong start for the district's construction efforts at the beginning of the Year of the Dragon, the district government said.
Li Qian, the Party Secretary of the district, and Lu Ming, the District Director, along with other key figures from Shanghai Construction Group and Shanghai Land Group, attended the ceremony. It marked the initiation of the Hyatt on the Bund renovation project as part of the city's urban renewal efforts.
In his speech, Lu Ming highlighted the North Bund area's role in driving the development of Hongkou. Under the leadership of the city's authorities, Hongkou aims to intensify urban renewal efforts, improve the quality of life in the district, and demonstrate a proactive and vigorous approach to development, said Lu.
Representatives from Shanghai Construction Group and Shanghai Land Group expressed their commitment to ensuring the project's timely completion and to contributing to Shanghai's urban renewal.
The renovation of Hyatt on the Bund, a comprehensive hotel offering lodging, dining, business, conference, and tourism services, is intended to enhance its facilities and services, thereby revitalizing the hotel and making it a new highlight along Shanghai's riverside.
2024 is a pivotal year for Hongkou to achieve its "14th Five-Year Plan" goals, with 48 major construction projects planned, covering a total construction area of 3.7 million square meters, the district government said.
These projects, including the acceleration of landmark buildings like the North Bund Center and the China Central Place’s Luxury Brand Home, aim to promote investment, stabilize growth, and benefit the public welfare.
With over 1.4 million square meters of planned construction and completion area, alongside the initiation of several urban renewal projects, Hongkou is set to further enhance the North Bund's core functions and improve the urban quality of life, the district government said.
