On November 9, national mini-plays exchange and performance activities kicked off in Hongkou. Attending were Yin Shousong, Deputy Director of the National Public Culture Development Center of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Xiao Yeying, Deputy Director of Shanghai Culture and Tourism Bureau, Wu Qiang, Standing Member and Publicity Director of the CPC Hongkou District Committee, Xie Rongrong, Vice Chair of the Hongkou District People's Congress Standing Committee, and Chen Xiaojie, Deputy Governor of Hongkou District.
The 2023 Mini-play Performances of the Mini-play Committee of the China Public Cultural Centers Association, as the first performance of the National Mini-play Exchange and Performance Series Activities, was held simultaneously on the morning of the same day. Rainbow Eagle Spreads Its Wings, a body mini-play, made its debut.
Rainbow Eagle Spreads Its Wings was created by the Hongkou District Cultural Center. The prototype of the work was the Rainbow Eagle Rescue Volunteer Service Team in Hongkou, Shanghai. Established in September 2018, it was a public welfare professional rescue team spontaneously sponsored by veterans. In July 2021, rarely heavy rainfall hit Henan, causing major flooding and mountain flood geological disasters. The Rainbow Eagle Rescue Team immediately participated in frontline emergency rescue. They demonstrated their mission and responsibility through practical actions, which touched many people.
Cultural centers from 7 provinces and cities also brought modern tea picking mini-plays such as People are the 1st Scene, Discount, the Steering Wheel, Apology, the Rainy Night, and Grandpa's Trophy.
Known as the birthplace of Shanghai-style culture, the birthplace of advanced culture, and the gathering place of cultural celebrities, Hongkou has a profound historical and cultural heritage, and it is closely related to theatrical art. An official of the District Culture and Tourism Bureau said that the Shanghai Art Theatre Society was established in Yong'an Neighborhood on Sichuan North Road in Hongkou. A small building of the Dadao Theatre Society was located on Shanyin Road. Hongkou also established China's first drama experimental school, Shanghai Municipal Experimental Theatre School, which later developed into Shanghai Theatre Academy. The first cinema in Shanghai, Hongkou Grand Theatre, is also located in Hongkou
In recent years, with the support and assistance of various sectors, the genes of the three cultural shrines have continued to rejuvenate in Hongkou, and Hongkou has continuously polished its brand and expanded the influence of drama and mini-plays. Stories about A Word was staged at the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Going Home for the Spring Festival was staged on the CCTV Yuanxiao Festival Gala. Works such as Innocence have successively been staged on the "Full of Splendor" program of CCTV 3. Temperature won multiple awards and was staged on the STV City Channel Spring Festival Gala. A number of excellent works such as Brotherhood and Seeing Cooking Smoke Again won awards at provincial and municipal levels.
On the afternoon of November 9, Yin Shousong gathered with experts in the drama industry as well as representatives of committee units and member units of the Mini-play Committee of the China Public Cultural Centers Association to discuss the creation of mini-play works as well as the selection and expansion of mini-play creation themes in the new era.
On November 11, the 7th Excellent Works Performance of the China Drama Association Mini-play Creation Bases was held at the Hongkou Workers' Cultural Center. Eight newly created mini-plays selected from four China Drama Association Mini-play Creation Bases, respectively in Hongkou (Shanghai), Luohu (Shenzhen), Dongguan (Guangdong), and Zhangjiagang (Jiangsu), made brilliant debuts on stage. Hosted by the China Dramatists Association, organized by the Drama Art Center of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Publicity Department of the CPC Hongkou District Committee, the Shanghai Mass Art Museum, and Hongkou District Culture and Tourism Bureau.
