Recently, the demonstration section project of the 4.5-kilometer North Bund Core Area Air Corridor System has been officially completed.
At night, an artistic ribbon flows like a brilliant galaxy, connecting the newly completed AIA Financial Center, Raffles City The Bund, and Jinmao Plaza.
At present, the development and construction of the North Bund is fully advancing around the goal of the North Bund of Shanghai, the Golden Triangle of the Huangpu River, and striving to build an important display window of the Chinese path to modernization. According to the plan, a 50-hectare slow traffic priority area has been set up in the core area of the North Bund, and a 4.5-kilometers-long air corridor system has been planned to connect important public spaces and commercial buildings in the area, greatly improving the travel and viewing experience.
The speed of the North Bund has been fully reflected in this project. Xu Zhiliang, the project manager of the North Bund Group Corridor, introduced that the first phase of the North Bund Air Corridor Demonstration Section had been completed by the end of 2022, and the second phase of the project had also been completed in a sprint shortly, once again demonstrating the acceleration of the North Bund that year. After the completion of the corridor demonstration section, a closed-loop aerial walking system will be formed, seamlessly connecting the commercial complex in the core area of the North Bund.
The phase II project of the air corridor demonstration section is located on Gongping Road (at the section from East Changzhi Road to East Daming Road), connecting the second and third floors of Raffles City The Bund and the second and third floors of AIA Financial Center Building. The project inherits the design concept of the artistic streamer between the architectural jungle and the urban forest in one phase. Spanning Gongping Road, it is the first cross-road double-decker air corridor in Shanghai.
The development and construction of the North Bund pursue high speed and require higher quality! Project Design Supervisor Yuan Junjie says that the inclined columns of the third-floor corridor are supported on the second-floor corridor, and the installation process of the entire corridor is simulated through simulation to ensure the quality and safety of steel structure installation.
The second-floor corridor is designed with triangular anodized honeycomb aluminum panels, thus creating a lightweight visual effect on the side edges, as if a sailboat is cruising between high-rise buildings on the North Bund. The second-floor space is designed with a rhythmic urban greenery and four-season flower border, and it is equipped with rest benches to further optimize the walking experience.
The main design language of the three-layer corridor is broken lines, and the inclined columns inspired by masts support the three-layer lightweight membrane structure bridge. The unique fifth facade effect of Shanghai is created on the three-layer corridor, with over 200 breathing lights densely distributed on the bridge deck. At night, the three-layer lights will form a "North Bund Star River" effect through programming design.
The second phase of the project is meticulously crafted in terms of details, with the corridor decorated with distinctive logo elements from the North Bund, and the railing adopts a sloping design that is easy to lean against.
This year marks the third anniversary of the new round of development and construction of the North Bund. The completion of the North Bund Air Corridor Demonstration Section Project marks the gradual introduction of the slow walk system in the core area of the North Bund. With the grand opening of the North Bund AIA Grand Theatre, the international top activity area that the North Bund area is striving to create has emerged.
