Jointly Creating Roof Paintings

Under the blue sky and white clouds, the city flower magnolia vied with each other in full bloom, the magpies flew onto the branches, and landmark buildings like the Sun Palace, the Star Hall, the Music Valley in Jiaxing Community were vividly painted on the scroll. A few days ago, more than 30 volunteers spent 6 days jointly creating a roof painting. On the roof terrace of the New Era Civilization Practice Sub-center of Jiaxing Road Sub-district, a painting with the theme of "Moving forward Bravely and Vigorously" was completed, which publicized the spirits of the 20th CPC National Congress in the form of art.

Volunteer Yang Xi: The whole process not only made me feel the pleasure of painting, but also made us closer to the community by watching the nearby landmark buildings presented by our hands.

It is reported that the roof painting "Jointly Creating ‘Jia’ Paintings (‘Jia’ in Chinese is homophonic with the adjective ‘good’ in English)" is a characteristic brand project of civilized practice of Jiaxing Road Sub-district. Since 2020, the New Era Civilization Practice Sub-center of Jiaxing Road Sub-district has taken advantage of a 200-square-meter roof terrace to organize students and volunteers in the community to jointly create color painting works. They have completed a number of roof paintings, such as the National Scents of Spring, the Spring Returns to the Earth, Striving for a New Journey on a Hundred-year Journey, and the Blueprint Has Been Drawn and the Endeavor is at the Right Time.

Wu Jieping, a famous oil painter, was specially invited to guide the activity. He not only participated in the screening, modification and improvement of the early color drawings, but also often stayed at the scene to provide professional guidance for volunteers. As the senior resident in Jiaxing Road Sub-district, he witnessed the rapid changes of the community.

It was said in the report made on the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China that we should adhere to the people-centered creative orientation and launch more excellent works to enhance the people's spiritual strength. Jiaxing Community of Hongkou District carried out civilized practice activities with novel and creative contents according to local conditions, and guided the residents of the community to create and share a beautiful "Jiayuan" ("Jiayuan" in Chinese is homophonic with the beautiful home in English). According to Jiaxing Road Sub-district, it will carry out more diversified community creative activities concerning the "Beautiful Homes around Ruihong".

After over 20-year old area transformation and urban renewal, Hongzhen Old Street in Jiaxing Community has turned into the present Ruihong New City. The beautiful homes around Ruihong not only carry Hongkou's rich and profound cultural heritage, but also spread the most youthful atmosphere to every corner of the community through roof painting, with an aim to create a better and more dynamic community reception hall.
