Decision on Expropriating Houses in 9 Blocks Released

At the beginning of the new year, old areas’ reconstruction has another good news. On January 5, a decision is made to expropriate houses in nine blocks of the East Yuhang Road Project (Phase II) and the Yuhang Road Project in the core area of the North Bund, involving more than 5,000 households. Residents rush to share the "New Year's gift" that they have been looking forward to for decades.

On the morning, the cold wind cannot block residents’ enthusiasm. Many residents have been waiting for the news for a long time, hoping to see a series of relevant publicity on the housing expropriation decision and the compensation scheme at the first time. The publicity involves the most concerned issues of residents, including identifying the type and construction area of the houses to be expropriated, compensation methods and standards and housing supply.

Lane 178 in East Yuhang Road is a typical old residential zone below Grade II, with poor housing conditions and many potential hazards. Li Jufen, an old woman at the age of over 60 who has lived in a 15 square meter attic for over 20 years, says excitedly that before signing the contract on relocation, I have already look for houses. When the compensation money arrives, I want to buy a house quickly and live happily in my old age.

Going forward, Hongkou will continue to strengthen its confidence and determination, win the tough battle of the old areas’ reconstruction, and make more residents to realize the dream of live in peace and contentment during the 14th Five-year plan period.
