In order to enhance the fire control awareness of the staffs and the elderly in the nursing home, and to improve the self-help and emergency response ability of the whole staffs in an emergency, Hongkou Boci Riverside Nursing Home invited Jiangwan Fire Brigade to jointly carry out a safety drill for fire control on November 17.
Based on the actual situation of the nursing home, instructor Mr. Chen of Jiangwan Fire Brigade explained to the staffs and the elderly how to prevent fire, how to put out the initial fire and the safety protection measures that should be taken in case of fire. Then, the team members instructed the staff of the nursing home how to correctly use fire extinguishers and other equipments in an emergency, and carried out emergency evacuation drills for surviving in fire. With the help of nursing workers, doctors and volunteers, the elderly orderly evacuated from the safe passage to the open area.
An official of Boci Riverside Nursing Home said that fire safety was the top priority in the work of the nursing home. This year, 4 fire doors and 10 probes were newly installed, 60 smoke detectors, a complete set of kitchen oil fume exhaust gas equipment and hot water equipment were installed successively, with a total investment of more than RMB300,000. Under the original circumstance of holding certificate, 10 employees were additionally sent to participate in the training of fire-fighting administrator certificate, and 4 fire administrators and safety administrators were arranged every day to conduct fire safety inspection and report after the inspection.
In the future, the Hongkou Fire-fighting Department will continue to organize fire-fighting drill activities in the nursing homes for the aged, and further improve the fire prevention plan, plug safety loopholes, and build a fire-proof wall.
