5G New Medical Infrastructure Constructed

Shanghai General Hospital and Shanghai Mobile announced the launching of China's first project of 5G new medical infrastructure on August 6.

Attending the launching ceremony are Zhang Jianming, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Economic Information Technology Commission, Chen Li, Chief of the Party Committee of Shanghai Branch of China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd., Liu Geng, Chief of the Party Committee of China Mobile (Chengdu) Industry Research Institute, Wu Tao, Deputy Chief of Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, and Zhang Lei, Deputy District Governor.

The project of 5G new medical infrastructure is the first major medical infrastructure project applied and approved by the Hospital, Shanghai Mobile and the Institute. According to "1 + 1 + N" idea, Hongkou will help promote to build 5G intelligent hospitals, that is, to build one 5G medical industry network integrated with cloud computing and one new ICT infrastructure with medical marginal cloud, based on which arrays of apps are applied to prosper intelligent medical industry.

As the core constructor of the project, the Hospital has been involved in 5G medical WAN since last year, thus taking the lead in making a new mode of first-aid emergency based on 5G tech, building the first 5G ambulance in China, making the first 5G+ general coordinator system for hospital emergency, and building a new emergency mode to turn ambulance into emergency room and seamlessly connect the emergency situation before and after getting into hospital. Moreover, the Hospital carries out 3D intelligent navigation, intelligent appointment examination scheduling, intelligent guidance service robot, intelligent logistics management and other applications, to improve patients’ satisfaction and medical experience.

During the period of COVID-19 control, the Hospital takes the lead in building a new mode of 5G intelligent fever clinic. By adopting 5G AI robots in the newly-built fever clinic and isolation ward, it turns the isolation ward into the consultation center, clearly presents important information such as patient medical index and breath sound in real time, and solves two difficulties about high efficiency and safety in COVID-19 control.
