Tiantong Road Broadened before the CIIE
By Qi Chuanbin
It is learned from the District Construction and Management Committee that the crossing sections of the broadening and reconstruction project of Tiantong Road (ranging from North Henan Road to Wusong Road) have been completed a few days ago; and the overall project should be completed before the CIIE this year, the public pipeline of which is under construction.
Located in the North Bund, the 700-meter-long Tiantong Rd section is not only an important traffic corridor connecting Hongkou District and Jing'an District, but also the only way for citizens to walk from the Bund to the North Bund along North Sichuan Road and Zhapu Road. Due to the roadbed width limit, there often are traffic jams occurring in the road section during the rush hours, and the public increasingly expects to broaden the road.
In order to solve the problem of citizens’ transportation and strengthen the weak links in urban development, the district will bring road broadening into the road plan in response to the district-district cooperation, embed overhead lines into ground, and build all-in-one poles. It is learned from the construction site that the road section in need of broadening and reconstruction is only about 700 meters long, but produces heavy traffic every day. It is complex though, the traffic must be kept smooth during the construction period.
In response, the District Construction and Management Committee leads the general contractor to optimize the construction organization, implement the requirements of the traffic police department, carry out the semi-closed construction in sections, and compile refined traffic organization scheme for the road that has been renovated many times and the contingency plan in case of emergency as scheduled, in order to ensure continuous construction of the project and normal operation of the traffic.
In addition, the underground pipeline of the Tiantong Rd section is complicated because it is located in the old town, and involves many power departments in terms of electric power, communication, gas, and water supply, which can be described as a tough task.
Therefore, the District Construction and Management Committee will strengthen the communication and coordination with power supply department, information pipeline company, water supply company, gas company and other relevant units in downtown, and comprehensively comb and analyze the problems encountered in the construction upon on-site meetings and project promotion meetings, and study and formulate relevant response options to prevent pipeline accidents and complete the project on schedule.
In recent years, the district has completed the district-district road projects on Hengshui Road, Pingliang Road/Yangshupu Road and other roads, thus gradually perfecting the regional road network structure. A new round of development and construction of the North Bund has been opened, according to the relevant officials of the District Construction and Management Committee, which will cooperate with the North Bund Development Office to promote the relevant tasks while conscientiously implementing the important concept that the people build their own city to serve and benefit themselves, and well handle fundamental issues about the development of the North Bund, in a bid to contribute more to the goal to "make a model in three years, form functions in five years, and finish the construction in ten years on the whole".
