May 5th Shopping Festival Boosts Business Sales

According to sampling statistics, 16 commercial firms in Hongkou achieve the sales of RMB490 million in five days.
During the May Day holiday, Hongkou focused on such five themes as emerging consumption, cultural tourism and catering consumption, automobile consumption, information consumption and home decoration consumption, as well as such four economic platforms as night economy, brand economy, debut economy and duty-free economy, and organized commercial firms to carry out novel and rich commercial marketing activities, including the first Night Stamp Album, National Trending Design Competition and the activity of the district’s officials surveying online sales, so as to effectively boost consumer confidence.
Besides, Hongkou runs a booming commercial retail overall, which presents a significant increase of passenger flow in shopping malls and a breakthrough in sales over the previous period. According to sampling statistics, the 16 commercial firms show the sales of RMB490 million in the five days, with an increase of 18.8% over the same period last year, an increase of 65% over the previous week and an increase of 130% over the previous month.
Among them, the online retail industry shows an obvious growth and achieves the sales of RMB260 million in total, with an increase of 45.1% over the same period last year, an increase of 73% over last week, and an increase of about 95% over the previous month. Furthermore, the retail sales of traditional department stores reach RMB52,868,500, with an increase of 5.5% over the same period, an increase of 64% over last week, and an increase of 250% over the previous month.
The online and offline integrated development reaches a great result during the May 5th Shopping Festival. The shopping malls have launched a series of online services to seek new growth points of consumption. Capitaland in Hongkou carries out Live-House activities in the atrium, and attracts a total of millions of viewers. In addition, Bailian Quyang Shopping Center offers a live broadcast named "Clothes & Delicacy" via Douyin and other platforms, attracting over ten thousand viewers for only one minute; and Life Hub at Upbund introduces the Online Mall to help tenants enhance the online business.
The marketing activities of offline shopping malls are popular. Major business circles, commercial firms and so on in Hongkou have launched promotional products at 55% discount since April 30; and more than 100 key commercial firms and thousands of commercial outlets have launched promotions.
50% discount for popular products are offered by more than 100 merchants in the business circles such as Bailian Quyang Shopping Center, Hall of the Moon at Ruihong Tiandi, Life Hub at Upbund, Capitaland in Hongkou, J•Life Center on the North Bund, etc.
Moreover, Shanghai Jahwa United Co., Ltd., Shanghai Sunning Co., Ltd., Shanghai Jiuzhou Gold Co., Ltd., Shanghai Shanggang Yingdong Trading Co., Ltd. and other key business firms and time-honored brands have launched 50% discount on selected promotional products.
Besides, Bailian Quyang Shopping Center provides tens of millions of consumer coupons, and Shanghai Magnolia Plaza launches 200,000 consumer coupons, so that the consumers get great benefits. According to the statistics, five large commercial complexes in Hongkou have attracted a total of about 1.2 million passengers during the May Day, which remains unchanged as the same period last year.
