Abundant Activities Opened in Hongkou District, including the Activity for Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up

Students of primary and secondary schools will have summer holiday in July, and Hongkou District will celebrate the 40th anniversary of China’s reform and opening-up. According to the District Education Administration, Hongkou District will organize students to attend activities of moral practice and quality development for cultivating and practicing socialist core value and becoming good teenagers of the new era and spend a happy and meaningful summer holiday.

Make Retrospect on the Road of Reform and Opening-up and Realize Chinese Dream

In summer holiday, Hongkou District will organize primary and secondary school students to attend activities for celebrating the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening-up. Titled “Amazing, My Motherland”, these activities are sponsored by several government departments of Shanghai, e.g. Shanghai Moral Education and Development Center of Students. These activities aim to explain the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress to students, guide them to know about the magnificent development process of China since the country adopted the reform and opening-up policy 40 years ago, educate them to love the Party, the country and socialism, encourage them to have dreams to the future and become good teenagers of the new era. Students will be divided into several groups, e.g. group of primary school, group of secondary school, group of high school and group of vocational school to attend these activities.

Students could also attend a micro film theme activity titled “The 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening-up and Me”. These films tell the stories of ordinary people in Hongkou District and convey the warmth and strength of Hongkou.

Read Classic Books and Become Young Gentlemen

Shanghai organized a campaign in May to encourage primary and secondary school students to read books, and this campaign will end in December. The District Education Administration will organize students to attend this activity in summer holiday, help them cultivate good reading habits and establish correct world view, view of life and value.

This reading campaign will take the website: hellobook.com.cn, as the platform, according to an official of the District Education Administration. The website will recommend books suitable for teenagers and encourage students to write their feelings about the books, so as to help students cultivate good reading habits, guide the public to show concern for student’s reading and create good environment of growth for teenagers. The sponsor will also invite students to attend an activity titled “Write a Letter to Myself in the Future”.

Organize Volunteer Service Activity and Cultivate Good Habits

Volunteer service is also an important task in summer holiday. The District Education Administration will organize more students in high schools and vocational schools to attend volunteer service (voluntary labor) activities, offer diversified positions to students and make students more convenient to attend volunteer service activities in communities they live in. The District Education Administration will give full play to the role of museums, art museums, science museums, teenager’s activity centers, patriotism education bases, science education bases, art education bases and other innovation and practice bases, design more practical activities for students, guide students to attend volunteer service activities in the community and enhance their innovation consciousness and practical ability.

“Little Professional Expert” is an activity that is very popular among students in the past years. The situation remains unchanged this year. In summer holiday, students will receive career planning education and learn how to plan their future career by visiting vocational practice bases, interviewing with professionals, making products and attending job role simulation activities.

Cultivating healthy routine-life habits for students is also an important task in summer holiday. Hongkou District adheres to the ideology: “For the lifelong development of every student” and popularizes health knowledge and health concept among teenagers for helping them live healthily and growth up happily. In summer holiday, Hongkou District will organize students to participate in an “online practice activity and contest of public safety knowledge for primary and secondary school students in Shanghai” and an activity titled “Dandelion in Spring: Little Judges Online” to strengthen student’s awareness of guarding against natural disasters, accidental injuries, social security incidents and crimes; the district will also encourage students to participate in sports activities and do physical exercise for one hour everyday for cultivating good physique; the district will also help students learn swimming in summer holiday and encourage them to participate in the swimming contest for primary school students in Hongkou District and the table tennis contest for primary and secondary school students in Shanghai.
