To whom should the cars that do not run be sold? Will the free pop corn bring in profits? These questions were not amusing brain teasers but the wonderful parts of the Internet entrepreneurial thinking shared by entrepreneurial talent Huang Haiwei with the white-collar youths in the activity of “White-Collar Oxygen Bar – Brain Supply Depot” organized recently by Jiangwan Town Community Volunteers Service Center. Adopting the form of the TED speech, the event attracted the participation of quite a few young people instead of the senior citizens who are frequently seen at the voluntary activities in communities.
According to the sources, the “White-Collar Oxygen Bar” is a brand project that Jiangwan Town Community Volunteers Service Center has focused on developing this year. As the name suggests, the services are naturally oriented toward the white-collar youths in the industrial parks and office buildings, and the event is aimed at supporting the development of the enterprises and the growth of the youths through novel and multiple activities. “The young people are the beneficiaries of the activities, and we also hope that the implementation of the project will pool the efforts of the volunteers and encourage them to benefit the society with their professional skills in communities.”
According to an official, the center has set up the first service center at 1876 Creative Park. In the future, the park will serve as the “headquarters” for the voluntary services and activities in Jiangwan Community, and organize and absorb the employees of the enterprises based in the area to participate in the public benefit activities in communities as the white-collar volunteers by relying on the regional Party construction work platform.
In recent years, with the number of volunteers growing, Jiangwan Town Sub-district has been active in exploring and innovating in the models of management and service so as to achieve effective linage of the demands for services and the resources of volunteers. At present, as the unified platform of service and management, the volunteers service center has taken the functions such as assignment and recruitment of volunteers, designing and promotion of the service projects, release of information, education and training and promotion and exhibition.
After summarizing the existing teams of volunteers and service projects, the center found that both the volunteers and those served are relatively aged. How to attract the young people to enter the communities and serve the communities is a key task for the center. Then the project of “White-Collar Oxygen Bar” has been introduced.
According to the sources, the “White-Collar Oxygen Bar” includes three sub-projects. The first is the “Brain Supply Depot”, which, learning from the form of TED speech that is well received abroad, organizes lectures each month by inviting entrepreneurs to share experience with white-collar youths face to face. The second is the “White-Collar Pressure Reducing Camp”. The means mainly include psychological counseling, sports and fitness, etc. The activities will be made as diversified and fashionable as possible. The third is “Treasure in Home”, where the young people with professional skills will be selected from the residential areas and the “two new” organizations to form the “Treasuring Seniors” guardian teams to provide services for the elderly.
