As part of the overall program of the municipal government for people’s better living, “green accounts” have been opened for Shanghai residents in many districts to promote the idea of garbage sorting. Lately, the activity was introduced to Fudan Neighborhood in Liangchengxincun Sub-district in Hongkou, issuing “green account” scorecards to attract its residents to the daily deed for environmental protection.
In the neighborhood, the pilot promotion of “green account” was underway. Many residents consulted about the application for and opening of a green account scorecard and brought with them many used goods for barter on the site as encouraged. With the card, the residents will be able to exchange scores recorded in their “green accounts” for discounts, gifts and services provided by appointed stores.
Reports say, there’ll be 1 or 2 special garbage dumps set up in each of the 142 neighborhoods around the district, having 1 volunteer offering on-site guidance and scanning “green account” scorecards of residents for score recording, at fixed sites and in fixed periods from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. and from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
