To promote Hongkou’s building of Shanghai Civic District, Hongkou News set up a column inviting residents to discuss about this project.
Resident Inspection Team, also called “Urban Woodpecker”, is invited to inspect key points, tough points and hot issues among residents to promote the improvement of urban environment and civic details.
Wang Yuqin from Guangzhong resident inspection team said that the non-civic phenomena mainly focus on 3 aspects: airing, parking and throwing articles from high buildings. A harmonious community environment is based on everyone’s contribution. I think that we could guide residents by adopting some proved methods. For example, residents in old residential quarters tend to air their clothes in public places due to limited space. Community could promote public airing grids which could be designed according to community’s features. This could improve the environment as well as solve this airing problem.
Cai Feiya from Jiangwan community resident inspection team said that the community environment has been greatly improved thanks to the national hygiene district campaign launched last year. However, the environment around residents’ homes remain to have problems when compared with larger environment, especially the improvement of stair stacking is a tough issue. I believe that community could adopt some effective measures to gradually change residents’ improper behaviors. For example, continue to organize “Clean Staircase” campaign, which could include both new and old residential buildings. Encourage residents to improve the environment of the staircase. This could solve this tough issue as well as encourage more residents to contribute to the building of Shanghai civic district, and the civic quality of residents could also be improved.
Zheng Peichuan from Quyang resident inspection team said that I find 2 aspects need to be improved through inspection: first, dregs tend to be piled up in greening zone in some communities, which has negative impact on community’s environment. I suggest that a temporary stacking site could be set aside in the community. On one hand, this would facilitate hygiene workers to collect regularly, on the other hand, the community’s environment could be ensured. Second, the use of promotion board in community. The promotion board is the window of a community and it should become a major channel to promote core value of socialism to make greater influence. I hope that proprietor committee and property management company could pay attention to these aspects.
Yang Aiqun from Liangcheng resident inspection team said that residential quarters built in 1980s and 1990s are now facing difficulties in parking. Since there are no parking places, many residents prefer to park their cars on the lawn or in the fire escape passage. This not only influence community’s environment but also cause potential danger. I suggest that for communities with parking issues could be improved through efforts of property management companies and resident self-management. Clear parking places should be set aside and parking standards should be developed to realize standard operation.
