No. 276 Beisuzhou Road, No 1 Sichuanbei Road
Designed by Stewardson & Spence and constructed by Yuhongji building factory, the building covers an area of nearly 10,000 square meters and its overall construction area reached 25,300 square meters. The fourth floor building with a basement is in reinforced concrete structure. The floor plan of the building of three parts is in V shape. The center of the floor plan is the circle on the southeast corner which is topped by a popular 17th century Baroque style bell tower.
Two groups of messenger sculptures had been destroyed and it was later recovered in 1999. Its two main facades use three-story high grand order Corinthian columns and its exterior wall is decorated by stone veneer or red bricks. The building is a typical work of European syncretism architecture. It is now converted into Shanghai Postal Museum. The building was announced as Outstanding Historical Architecture of the city in 1984. It was included in the list of Cultural Relics Protection Units of Shanghai in 1989 and the list of Key National Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council in 1996.
