As the fall semester begins, residents of the largest economically affordable housing base in central Shanghai received a special gift: No. 5 Middle School of Shanghai settled in Rainbow Bay and successfully filled the blanks of junior high schools in the region. It is reported that the school will officially start on September 2, 2019.
The newly built No. 5 Middle School of Shanghai is located at No. 1126, Sanman Road. Consisting of a teaching building, an administrative laboratory building, a curriculum innovation center for primary and secondary school, it is composed of 62,444.69 square meters of construction area from the east to Nanhe Line of Railway Branch Line, the south to Rainbow Bay Senior Welfare Institute, the west to Liangcheng Road and the north to Sanmen Road.
According to an official, to solve the problem of land resource limitation in the school sports grounds in the central Shanghai, relevant departments of Hongkou looked for lands upwards and downwards to revitalize all kinds of resources to build an area of nearly a thousand square meters of standardized basketball courts, volleyball courts, badminton courts, tennis rooms, body dance rooms and gyms. Also, as an important part of the integrated construction of Rainbow Bay, the school's sports venues and parking lots will be open to residents of Rainbow Bay and surrounding communities, helping to solve the problems of narrow recreation venues and parking difficulties.
In recent years, with the growth of population, related supporting facilities have been keeping up to effectively alleviate the contradiction between residents' actual living needs and the status quo of services. Last year, Jiangwan Town Sub-district’s 1st Citizen Station on No. 79, Hongwan Road was built for use, covering old-age, dining, entertainment and leisure and other functions. At the beginning of this year, the largest state-run pension facility, Rainbow Bay Senior Welfare Institute, was officially opened for operation, adding 860 new beds for the elderly, which is convenient for the residents of Rainbow Bay. Bus No. 160, No. 887 and No. 108 have entered Rainbow Bay, effectively alleviating the difficulty of going out and going to a hospital.
It is learned from the Housing and Urban-Rural Construction Management Committee of Hongkou District that to further improve the functional support of the Rainbow Bay area, a number of convenient facilities such as hospitals and public service centers around the community are being constructed in an orderly manner
