The groundbreaking ceremony for the pile foundation work of the "Biyun · North Bund" project on Hongkou’s Jiaxing Road Subdistrict was held on March 8.
Li Qian, the Party Secretary of Hongkou and Lu Ming, the Director of Hongkou and other officials attended the ceremony and jointly initiated the construction, marking the official start of the "Biyun · North Bund 138" project.
The historical conservation project, a collaborative effort between the Golden Bridge and North Bund Group, is adjacent to the core area of the North Bund and about 1 kilometer from the Huangpu River.
The project spans an area of 60,200 square meters and consists of nine neighborhoods. It not only preserves the rich historical and cultural heritage of Hongkou but also incorporates the high-quality traits of "Golden Bridge" and "Biyun." It is expected to enhance the North Bund area's appeal to high-end talents while maintaining Shanghai's historical ambiance and street textures.
Notably, the project maximizes the protection of historical features, adopting planning concepts that respect the area's historical context and street patterns. It creates a "three neighborhoods and six alleys" layout with distinct characteristics.
It includes the preservation and transformation of certain historical buildings. The construction process aims to maintain architectural diversity, weaving together elements of old and new, East and West, classic and fashionable through innovative and careful revitalization, seeking a new balance between historical preservation and urban renewal.
To ensure an early start and utilization of the project, Hongkou's major projects office has provided full service support.
The Hongkou Construction Management Commission and the Planning and Resources Bureau have actively provided services, leading the efforts to facilitate the expert review of the facade plan, approval of the planning and design scheme, and streamlining of water and electricity access approval processes.
