How about the future traffic of the North Bund? Recently, Hongkou District Planning Bureau said that it has planned a rail transit network of four lines and nine stations at the North Bund. 3 tunnels will build an 8-minute commuter circle of the golden triangle. Beiheng Passageway connects the North Bund with Hongqiao and Pudong International Transport Hubs.
The North Bund follows the principle of serving the people with the best resources, uses advanced transportation planning concepts and sustainable development ideas to build a diversified and multi-mode comprehensive transportation system that is people-oriented and compatible with the functional positioning of the North Bund.
The North Bund creates a low-carbon ecological and sustainable urban traffic environment, realizes efficient and convenient external traffic, green and low-carbon internal traffic, and intelligent innovation in traffic management, so that more people can enjoy the convenience brought by the high-speed development of the North Bund.
The Traffic Integration at the "Golden Triangle"
The North Bund has built a road network system with the "two horizontal and three vertical" trunk roads as the skeleton, and three river-crossing tunnels, namely, the Bund Tunnel, Xinjian Road Tunnel and Dalian Road Tunnel, to realize the traffic linkage at the "Golden Triangle".
According to the requirements of the top central activity area, the road network on both sides of Huangpu River is systematically organized. An expressway network composed by the Bund Tunnel, east-west Beiheng Passageway under construction, Yan'an Elevated Road, East Yan'an Road Tunnel, Pudong Avenue and a planned north-south road will promote the traffic integration of the North Bund, Lujiazui, and the Bund, thus forming a balanced and high-efficient comprehensive transportation network.
After completion, it will take 10 minutes to reach Lujiazui and the Bund, 30 minutes to reach Shanghai Railway Station, 45 minutes to get Shanghai South Railway Station and Shanghai Hongqiao Comprehensive Transportation Hub and 60 minutes to arrive at Shanghai East Railway Station and Shanghai Pudong International Airport from the North Bund.
The Coverage Rate of Rail Transit Exceeds 90%
In terms of rail transit, there are three lines and seven stations. The planned Metro Line 19 will cross the North Bund, and two stations, namely Zhoujiazui Road Station and Tilanqiao Station will be set up, so that the North Bund will own four metro lines and nine stations. The 600-meter coverage rate of rail transit is more than 90%. In the future, it will only take 5 to 10 minutes to walk from the train carriage to the office.
As of the bus transport, Medium-transport-volume buses on Beiheng Passageway and 60 existing bus lines will meet the demand for the bus travel, and the 300-meter coverage rate of bus reaches 100%. The integration of bus stops and the slow traffic network will further be promoted, so as to form a green traffic network characterized by "bus + slow traffic".
Creating a World-class Waterfront Green Slow Traffic Area
A slow-traffic priority area with about 50 hectares of 11 blocks is set up in the core area of the North Bund, and on both sides of Tangshan Road, a car-free area with about 22 hectares of 6 blocks is set up to return more space to pedestrians. The North Bund adheres to multiple strategies to open up green space, and it plans a central green axis of about 6 hectares on both sides of Gaoyang Road, which runs through the core area and directly reaches the waterfront area, and connects two metro stations, including International Cruise Terminal Station and Tilanqiao Station.
In the principle of openness, convenience and three-dimensional interconnection, the North Bund builds a three-dimensional network with all-round interconnection of aboveground, ground and underground within the core area.
Overall Underground Connection in New Public Areas
B1 is built into a dynamic block with overall development and pedestrian connectivity, and the public functions such as commerce, culture and sports are expanded.
The ground space focuses on improving the quality of slow traffic, and provides carriers such as centralized green space, activity streets and rest places.
The corridor on the second floor provides experiences of sightseeing and leisure, and works as a necessary supplement to the commuting traffic. At present, the structural hoisting of the model section of the corridor on the second floor from No. 89 to No. 92 Blocks has been completed, and it is in further progress.
"One River, One Creek, One Port and One Axis" is the most valuable resources of the North Bund. Hongkou will fully take the advantage to build a world-class waterfront green slow-traffic area.
